Singapore #1

Can't believe that I'm actually writing about this trip. It's almost impossible to find time for this.

Well, Singapore. We went there for a 3D2N trip. It was supposed to be a free and easy trip but we made it a hectic and am-pm trip one. God knows how many calories were burnt. We managed to 'explore' all places in just 3 days. Unless if you include museum into it. I mean, you do know that Singapore used to be part of Malaysia, don't you? So you can scratch out museum in your plan.

Tip #1 : Plan your journey. Which is first and which is later. Have a map with you all the time.

Upon arrival

I was the map reader during the trip. A pretty good one, I must say.

Upon arrival, we went straight to Little India which was 10 minutes of walking from our hotel.

Mustaffa Center, a great place to buy perfumes.

Hugry faces

Little India Arcade

Hand-made souvenirs

After check-in, we went to the famous Orchard Road. My oh my, that place is crazy! Endless shopping malls. From high end stores to sg. wang standard stores, you name it.

Tip #2 : Do not bring extra bags and shoes/flops from here. Charles and Keith is everywhere! They dominate every malls. You'll go crazy, or at least we went crazy! Boys, ignore this tips. haha

MRT

Tip # 3 : If you go there with more than 2 person, I suggest you to take cab. Easier and faster.

Next post on Universal Studios Singapore!

car kissing

I couldn't believe that I've been driving ttdi-uitm-ttdi back and forth every single day for the past one and a half year. Out of the house as early as 7.15 am and reach there just at time for my 8am class.

Traffic congestion is not a big deal. But finding a ONE parking space in the campus is a big problem. I rephrase, a huge problem.

Uitm is trying as hard as they can to stop student from driving to class due to bad traffic jam especially at peak hours. In order for them to stop us, they put parking barrier at all parking areas which only allow staff to park and thousands of students are left with no space to park.

With very limited available parking lot for students, everyone is fighting for one freaking space. Some of them come very early just to get the best spot and sleep in the car while waiting for their class. Yes, it sounds crazy. Luckily, my class starts at 8am while others at 8.30am.

Double parking is normal. Just imagine when your car is parked nicely in the parking lot and theres this car blocked yours and the owner finished class at 5pm. What would you do then?

Whether you like it or not, you have to push the car in order for you to go out. I'm not talking about pushing one car, its actually ONE line of cars. Now I know where my biceps come from. Haha

To worsen the situation, you have to have at least two person to do it. One to push the car and one to stop the car because there are times when you push it too hard, it won't stop and hit the car behind/in front and hit another car and another car...like a domino. All are kissed back to back. Too much love there.

Look at pictures below. My whitey (white kenari) was blocked by a line of domino cars. Obviously I can't push them alone. All are kissed back to back and pushing one car is like pushing one line of cars.

muah!

Driving a bigger car than myvi is like commiting suicide unless your dad is a millionaire to fix your car each time it got crashed.

positive vibes

Classes starts next week. Monday to be exact. Surprisingly, I'm not grumpy at all thinking that I have only 2 weeks of break this time. Maybe, I'm used to it and part of me is excited to go to class and clinic.

I've been on "unexpected occupied" mode throughout the holiday. I rarely at home. The "real" holiday is wake up in the afternoon after 12 hours of sleep, shower only when I'm going out, home-cooked food, a laptop and wifi. Rather than driving, traffic jam, walking under scorching hot sun one minute and rain cats and dogs the other minute.

To end this holiday, I'm going for a vacation to Singapore. Super excited. I need positive vibes to start that one endless semester filled with classes and clinics.

Will update you guys soon!

common cold

" stress can cause our body's immune system to decrease "

That is what happens to me! Cough, flu, headache, fever etc are lining up taking their turn to attack my body. Cough won the race followed by flu, the first runner-up and now fever. I hate to have these symptoms during exam weeks especially in the exam hall. Poor people who is seating near me.

I know how would they feel because I get so irritated when someone is coughing non-stop or when she/he is having a running nose. I guess most of the time my mind was thinking on how to stop her which seems impossible rather than thinking of the answer. Bad, I know. I get easily distracted.

Just hope it'll get better tomorrow. I'll be having a long day tomorrow. 3 sections cramp up in one day. Essay, BAQ and OSPE.

positivism

Just finished reading Sophia Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret novel. If I'm allowed to name one thing that stop me from studying, it would definitely because of this book. I'm hooked with it and can't stop until I reach the last page.

And now that I finished it, I have no other reason to not study.

3 basic medical modules and 1 dental module. Crap. I'm messing things up. 5 days is obviously not enough. So I have to think of a smarter way. I text a few girls and boys from my class and tell them to give me hints on any possible question. Especially essay question.

That's the best move I could think of other than sneak in into my lecturer's room, steal the question paper and sell them to my classmates :D

When it comes to studying, part of me is missing Jengka. A nice and peaceful place to study. But it is also a place where you can find high school drama with immature people.

It is real that university is just school with more expensive books.

lets read

I used to read novels back in high school. Be it in english or malay. For english novel, I found it really helpful in improving my language, vocab and whatnot. Of course communicating in that language also helps. Not a problem there because I studied in a school with a multiracial students. We use english in dialy basis.

Then comes university life where it is 100% malays and bumiputera. A place that make you look like an alien if you talk in english. People will look at you like you're from the Pluto. Sad but true. Day by day, I can feel that I'm losing the mojo in writing and practising the language. I can no longer construct a flowery sentence.

Now, I think it's time for me to start reading, again !! Yes you can see my determination with that exclamation mark. haha. Many people tell me that they love Sophia Kinsella's novel. She's the writer of Devil Wears Prada and Confession of a Shopaholic.

As a start, I chose "Can You Keep a Secret?" by the young writer. Read it until chapter 9 already. I love they way she writes and how she puts words into a sentence.

I'm sure I won't stop with only one book. Gonna get other collections later because MPH one utama is having a book fair now. Bought it at 30% off. Great deal.

I know I shouldn't be reading novel when the final exam is just in a week -.-'

books = boring?
lets talk fashion. hehe

It's bright and sun-shining here, Selangor particularly. No idea how it's like in other states. I find that top made with soft chiffon material is the the best choice as it is so comfortable and breezy. I don't sweat much in it.

I love the color combo of my outfit to class today. My dark black hair matches the cardigan. That skinny belt matches my handbag. And my trousers matches my pump heels(not in the picture).

hair products

I have a natural straight and black colored hair. I straightened my hair when I was in form 2 although it's already straight, curled it up twice when I was in form 3 and 5. Then chopped it off and tried few styles from bob cut to bangs. Now I wanna keep it long and maintain it with once a month treatment.

My hair regime is simple. I don't use conditioner or serum to moisten it. Just shampoo. Very simple.

But my hair fall problem is getting worse as it grows longer! grrr.

I think it's about time to use conditioner and other hair products. Just bought few dove new line hair products. Intense Repair Shampoo, Intense Repair Conditioner, Intense Repair Overnight Treatment and Leave On Cream. Shall try these for few weeks and see the result.

my current obsession is headband

making it work

Through out this week, I'm amazed on how my brain had finally started to function normally. The next thing I knew, I was on my bed with piles of notes. I mean, on bed studying not sleeping, duhh. Maybe because my brain freaked out about progress test on friday(just now) and finals in 3 weeks time while my body is somewhere in heaven. hehe. It went well. Better that previous tests. I guess to choose between a true or false answer is harder than writing an essay.

Happy holidays to uitm students. In shah alam to be exact. I'm expecting less cars, no traffic jam in the campus, ample parking space so that I dont have to double-park my car or to push dirty cars that block mine, less students fighting over food at the cafe

2 more weeks of classes to go.

Did I mention that Gossip Girl is back? With more drama in season 4. Now I'm crawling on my bed while waiting it to be downloaded. grrr.

politeness

One reason why I love staying in this residential area is because of the people. 70% or the residents are foreigners from different countries who are working in Malaysia. Upstairs mat saleh, downstairs mat saleh, groups of mat salehs on your way to swimming pool, everywhere.

The best thing about them is their politeness toward strangers. Do you say a simple 'hye' or 'morning' to strangers? I bet you don't because we especially girls were raised with the mind set 'do not have any eye contact with strangers. just walk straight. potential flasher is everywhere' hehe.

Unlike them. Just imagine this. You are walking downstairs, and there's this mat saleh greets you 'good morning girl'. One simple greeting can turn your cranky morning mood to a better feeling and you will eventually start your day with a smile. Lovely isn't it?

It seems impossible to apply this within us. There must be hidden intention when a stranger guy smiles towards a girl or the other way round. Three possible scenes that are expected to happen.

1) That girl will spontaneously look behind just to make sure that the guy is smiling to her.
2) That guy will get 'do i know you' look from that girl as she squinches her eyes.
3) The next thing you know, you got smacked in your face by her bf.

This kind of mind set that need to be changed among us.

PL: behind the scene

Shopping is not something that you do when you're free or under stress. It's a habit. It's like some of us have this habit of biting their nails. You can't stop though you know you're destroying yourself. I can soo relate myself to this.

Now that I prefer wearing trousers and shirt to classes, my biggest spend would definitely be on those items. I'm very particular when it comes to choosing shirts. No thick and stiff cotton, please. I love chiffon and soft cotton materials. The problem is, those materials are expensive!

Luckily I found a way to solve this problem. Not to be greedy, I share with all ladies in this world :)

Project Love (PL) is a small online business by me and my bloodsister, nadi. Looking at all clothes, I can't stop myself from having each and every one of them. A high quality chiffon top at rm50? Thinking back that I bought a similar top at Zara for rm169 made me want to jump from the fifth floor -.-"

Of course there are pros and cons when you purchase online. There is always possibilities that it's not like what it was described, wrong size etc. For PL, we give our utmost priority to quality. All items are hand-picked by us and we make sure that it worth every penny.

For a better satisfaction, we join few bazaars so that all project lovers can have a real look at all clothes and even try them! No harm. We're cool that way :) Anyway,we'll be at I love Bazaar in Subang Parade this coming weekened. And every other weekends too.

Never thought I'm able to juggle two works at a time though Nadi handles the business during weekdays due to my time constraint. I know dentistry and business is two different thing but so far, I'm on track.

But in any ways, you can't avoid shopping mall, can you? They're just irresistible. Though it's just a so called window shopping. Sometimes it's freaky when I say I miss the smell of OU -.-"

one happy girl

baju kurung stories

When I received the offer to further my study in dentistry, all sorts of thoughts came out. And my biggest issue was the faculty's dressing code. Strictly no jeans and only formal outfit is allowed. Living in malaysia and studying in UiTM, formal dress code means baju kurung. Well at least I'm used to that scenario. Back in jengka, any event under the uni requires students to dress formally; and you will see people coming to the hall wearing baju kurng.

I always have this dream of wearing a set of pencil or high waisted skirt, nice shirt and gorgeous heels to work. That's formal dress code to me. Baju kurung is boring. You're like a walking curtain with the same design top to bottom. Rules remain rules. I wear kurung to classes on Monday and Friday.

Sometimes, I dress something above what the ordinary uitm or shall I say dental students wear. I prefer wearing trousers and shirt or blouse eventhough I have a one month stock of kurung. It is more practical to me compared to kurung as I'll be seating most of the time treating my dummy(and patient in the future). You wouldn't want to be seen 'terkangkang' while treating your patients, would you?

And yes, I wear high heels although uitm's road is soo not high heels friendly. Who wears trousers with pumps or sandals anyway? Of course I get the 'look' from others but as long as I keep my cleavage, belly button and knees at home, there's nothing wrong with it. No one gets heart attack or asthma, so far. Hehe

Even if I were a patient, I'd choose a dentist who wears a tuck in shirt with a pencil skirt/trousers and a pair of heels(fully covered, I know!). How about you?

clinic sessions

I love saturdays and sundays. I'm exhausted throughout the weekdays with classes, clinic sessions and traffic congestion. Pfft too many cars on the road nowadays.

Clinic sessions for dental meterial & operative ended yesterday. I had 6 weeks of fun doing cavity preparation and filling restoration using different materials; amalgam, composit, GIC etc. After 6 weeks of practical, our skills were tested in competency exam. We were given a task on which site and what type of restoration to do within 3 hours. Luckily it was on lower teeth. Much easier compared to upper.

Endodontic and periodontics module starts next week. A whole lot of excitements await.

Here are some of pictures in UiTM lab during the competency exam.

during the exam

my happy face after the exam. It went well, alhamdulillah.

Dr Nik examined Afiq's cavity prep

our table of four

Me and jannah are annoyed of each others schedule. Whenever I'm free, she's in class and vice versa. And our phone conversation is getting shorter.

Jannah: hello mana?

Me: *whispering* clinic.

Jannah : bye.

Me: bye.hello? akjdhhfs

She hung up before I replied her 'bye'. What a true friend I have -.-"

clinic rules

Dont look at me like i'm an alien or some creature from Mars just because im the ONLY girl who doesn't wear hijab/scarf. This is some weird scene in my faculty. I'm used to be surrounded with 'free hair' girls all this while.

I just love my hair that I hate to tie them up. Be it in bun or pony tail or any style. But at least i obey the clinic rules. My hair is neatly in place when I'm doing my work. I tie them up. Sometimes I use head band. If lectures and other staffs dont mind, so who do you wanna make a big fuss out of it. Maybe u're jealous or you have some problem with free hair girls and you just have to let it out, otherwise you can go mental.

p/s: Sorry, i just have to let it out, otherwise I can go mental :p

save your hair

Last month, I went to salon for hair treatment. Usually I went for hair treatment once in a month but due to time constraint, I skipped few months. I was freaking out when my hair started to fall badly since the month of World Cup. Blame those 2.30am matches.

All this while, we've came up with so many theories about hair fall problem. The most common would definitely because of eating instant noodles like Maggie. And the worst is you probably have Leukemia. Okay that's scary, isn't it?

While waiting for my turn, I complained to the hairdresser about my hair fall problem. And he said, all those theories are bullshits. According to him, there are only 2 factors that cause the problem which are probably because of lack of sleep or your hair is too long.

Based on those two causes, I made my own theory. I dont think my hair is too long that my scalp can't hold it in place anymore. So I'm left with 'lack of sleep' theory. And the solution is... I need more hours of sleeping in a day.

Haih. Just like babies. hehehe.

Good night world. Get more sleep and save your hair!

new module

Dental operative & technology module started last Monday. Hello hair-bun, covered flat pumps 8-5pm straight in the clinic. Goodbye heels and break in between classes.

Basically, each students are given few projects to do. This time we're dealing with the REAL equipments and technology. Except that real human patient is replaced with dummy. My jaw almost dropped when Prof said, each set of table is worth of RM64k.

We are so busy concentrating on our projects that all we say to each other are 'dah siap?' 'ni nak pakai bur apa?' 'tolong nisa letak plaster of paris boleh?' or in worse case, 'lapar gila okay!' hahaha.

I didn't even bother to check my phone! That's weird, at least for me.

Now i get it when they said, only doctors marry doctors. Lets change it, shall we? Kan zahid kan? hahahaha.

Btw, Happy Ramadhan to all muslims.

passion

I've never worked in my entire life before. I don't know how it feels to work and the satisfaction once you start to earn your own money. People says, you're more greedy with your own money unlike those endless shopping using you parents' or aunty's. Didn't know how far its true until we(me and nadi) started our own blood sisters' business named Project Love.

Initially, it was a more like 'lets have fun ' kinda business but now we realized that this is a serious matter, you know offering nice outfits with the best quality the suits everyone, ladies obviously isn't an easy task.

This is what I called passion. No don't worry, people. Dentistry will forever be my main passion. Money comes after that. Or the other way round? -.-"

I'm enjoying the student life as much as possible. The real world of dentistry comes in the third year onwards where I'll be having pack clinical years from 8am-5pm with patients, hospital trip twice a week and on calls as well. So siapa nak jadi patient I buat scaling, filling and tooth extraction, nanti contact I next year k :)

dont worry. nanti clinical years i sanggul rambut i. hehehe

my hairdo when the bad hair day attacks

we're dead during lectures and awaken when it's over. sigh

Happy weekend, world.
Good night beautiful dream.

sparks of asia

Those pictures explain why I've been abandoning this blog.

Pictures were taken during faculty's annual dinner which was organized by 2nd year dental student. The themed was "Sparks of Asia". The reason why we chose this theme is because we have lecturers form various countries like India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Russia, Pakistan etc. It was like a way to celebrate them and show our appreciation towards them. On that night, guests were required to wear a costume from another country other than their origin country. I wore saree which is the traditional costume from India.

It was a successful night, I must say. Now that everything is over, I can have my beautiful sleep not only at night but in between classes and during classes :D

the preparations...

Believe it or not, I didn't use any pins or needles.
With the correct technique, I managed to 'glued' it throughout the event.

with Puspa (Myanmar) and Ain (pakistan)

when they were crazy with 'who got the most expensive DSLR', I was busy taking pictures with Polaroid camera

Japanese costume by Akila and Dr. Anis

India, Pakistan, Japan and Indonesia

with mimi (Indonesia's jawa)

zul the pengarah program (India)

and the vietnamese daie

expect more updates from me :)
